Knowledge, talent must be Michigan's calling cards

The recent Detroit Regional Policy Conference on Mackinac Island had a theme that should follow everyone off the island and be incorporated into the very psyche of all in Michigan.
The message that echoed off the island: in this century, knowledge, talent, innovation, and globalization are going to drive everything. This is the same message I have been preaching for some time as a leader of a private business organization in Palm Beach County, Florida and as a former Michigan State Superintendent of Schools.
